Ebay is My Friend

I have been searching all over for jeans for Kendra. The skinny style is so in right now and Kendra likes her jeans loose. I can't blame her for wanting to breath. I tried Target, Walmart, Kmart, Children's Place, Gymboree, Gap, Kinder Kloset, and Salvation Army Thrift. I am amazed that nothing fit.

I found her a pair of Gap 7+ jeans at a garage sale this fall and they fit perfect. I am so grateful that I found a lady selling three pair of 7+ Gap jeans. The auction ended this morning at 11:30. Shoot!! I was supposed to pick up Mary at 11:30. My AWESOME husband set his alarm clock and bid and won for me. Three pairs of Gap jeans for $11.00 each. Online they are about $30 -$40 new. Of course they don't sell teh 7+ size in the store. Bless his heart. He is on night shift and his sleep is precious, so I really appreciate what he did for me today. Thanks honey.

DEALS!

Kendra and I have been buying school supplies like they are going out of style. My favorite place to go...OfficeMax. Who can beat 1,5,10 cent items..not even Walmart! I think we are set now and also have been planning ahead for Operation Christmas Child. Thank you to my friend Roxanne for sharing her great idea to buy now for later for OCC.

I was able to help a friend start a coupon binder today. It was great fun for us and the kids. Welcome to the club Carmen. :)

Kendra and I went to Target today and met a lady with a coupon binder and one with a fistful of coupons. I was super excited. Kendra told me that "the coupon gang was out today." She was right and it was fun to meet new ladies with my same passion. I invited them to the coupon swap at the mall next week.

Coupon Binder

Below is my coupon Binder. I bought it at Target for $9.99. The inserts are baseball card holders. You can get them at Target, Walmart, or Kmart. I got 30 for $4.99 at Kmart. I have used about 50 so far. The colored tabs are from Walmart. My sister gave me a labeling machine for Christmas a few years back, so I used that to "write" my categories.

I get most of my coupons from the Saturday Early Edition of the
Star Tribune. It is only .75 on Saturday and $2.00 on Sunday. Most of the time, you get the same amount of coupons...supposed to anyway. You can preview the upcoming coupons as well here.

I also go online and print coupons. Be sure to set you default to black ink. I try to only cut what I need otherwise it is just a waste of my time and energy. I do keep the remaining coupons and put them in the expandable part of my binder. I will put a list of the websites down below.

Just to give you an idea of my categories. The first part of my binder is groceries: baking, beverages, bread, breakfast, candy/nuts, canned, condiments, dairy, frozen, pasta, snacks, soup, and vegetables. The second half is non-grocery: cleaning, dental, doggie, feminine, gas, medicine, miscellaneous, paper, shampoo, soap, and storage.

The third section I am fine tuning. I have Target, business cards, gift cards, and rain checks so far. I am going to add Hornbachers, Cash Wise, restaurant, and receipts.

How much do I save? It depends...if I am buying produce and fruit I don't do so well because they don't have coupons for that. I did have one shopping trip that I saved $26.00 and spent $24.00. Kendra has been on me to get Lunchables. I told she had to wait because I had a coupon at home. She waited. They went on sale for $.99 my coupon was for $.75 and it doubles to $1.00 so it was free! I gave her the coupon and sent her through the line. She and the clerk were surprised! Here in town all of our grocery stores double up to $1.00. That really adds up quick. I used to do coupons in the Twin Cities and it doesn't even compare.

I have adopted my friend Stephanie L's way of shopping. She makes her list on a recycled envelope (the ones you get with credit card offers etc.). On this list, she put the store name, items, and the price. This way she can compare prices and maybe save a trip to a different store. She also pulls any coupons that she will need for that shopping trip
before she leaves the house. This is a huge time saver once you get to the store. She does bring the rest of her coupons with when shopping just in case there is a deal that wasn't in the ad.

My list of websites/Blogs that I like in order of importance. ;)

Coupon Organization

I am finally organized. I just started putting my coupons in to a three ring binder with baseball card sleeves. I am really excited about this new system. I will let you know how it works for me. I found a great tool today for searching for specific coupons.

Inspired

Tonight I ran into a gal from MOPS at Target. We got on the subject of cutting/printing coupons. She has inspired me to get back into couponing. Here is a link to her blog.
